Soon You Won’t Have to Take Pics of Your Kids, Robot Will Do That For You, But Do We Really Want That?

Maybe you recall that famous pop hit from the 80-ties: “Somebody’s watching me” by Rockwell. In the song video, the main character is constantly feeling that somebody is watching him, hence the name of the song. Thanks to modern technology, that is now a possibility.

Mayfield Robotics Company and its development team are currently working on a prototype of a robot, which main role is to record the most beautiful moments in your very own home. Often than not, many candid and spontaneous moments are not recorded in our home, because we forget to notice them.

Robot named Kuri, using application Kuri Vision, will follow you and your family members throughout home and during that time, record all spontaneous moments. Robot will analyze what pictures you liked the most and “learn” what future moments it should record.

Mike Beebe, the company founder, said that the inspiration for Kuri came from his son Thomas, who constantly took pictures of his younger brother Sam with his digital camera. By doing so, he recorded special moments that would otherwise remained unrecorded.

You are probably wondering: “What stops Kuri to record every moment, is there any trace of privacy?”

As Mike Beebe points out, you don’t have to worry about that, because you can set the Kuri settings in that way so you can control the exact time frame and location when and where Kuri can conduct its recording.

Application that runs Kuri is easy to use, it allows sharing of content on social networks like: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

It remains to be seen whether or not Kuri will be a machine that helps you record wonderful moments, or just another paparazzo tool. One thing is certain, the pictures will be top notch!
