Danube Cup 2022 – great opportunity for student startup teams!

Student startup teams, which are already developing an idea confirmed at least at the local level, can apply to participate in the Danube Cup competition this year as well!
This is a great opportunity for young and ambitious entrepreneurs, but it is important to note that the Danube Cup is not an idea competition – a business idea must be validated among potential buyers, the concept must be unique and innovative, and there must be high growth potential independent of local market trends.

Teams are expected to meet the following criteria:

  • Validation: teams should have already conducted validation research on their idea, at least at the local level;
  • Team size: teams must have a minimum of two and a maximum of five members, with participants being members of only one team;
  • Student teams: non-student members are allowed in the team, but most members should be registered students from one of the partner universities of the competition, in this case, the University of Belgrade;
  • Development phase: teams must be in the ‘pre-seed’ and ‘pre-incubator’ phases, without prior financial support from independent accelerators, incubators, companies, or VC funds;
  • Availability: teams must be available to participate in all phases of the Danube Cup.

Student startup teams should have a proven business concept: to be innovative; have growth potential; are in international demand; have already acquired some market validation; no external capital was raised. The existing prototype is not a prerequisite for participation.

In addition to valuable cash prizes, contestants can expect mentorship, networking and collaboration with other teams, mentors, entrepreneurs and sponsors, and selected startups can expect potential collaboration with reputable business angels and VC funds.

The competition consists of the semifinals, which will be held on May 12, and the final competition on May 31.

Interested teams from the University of Belgrade can send their application by email at ctt@rect.bg.ac.rs until April 25, 2022.
